Color Contacts: Four Types, Four Reasons
Color contacts come in four different categories or tints, visibility tint, enhancement tint, color tint and costume tint.
Visible tint contact lenses are very mildly tinted, usually with a very light green or blue color. This tint is not intended to interfere with the actual color of the eye. The purpose of the faint tinting is to help individuals with putting in or removing their contacts. The slight color is useful in aiding the wearer while positioning the lens in the eye,. It is also helpful if the lens is dropped onto the floor or countertop.
Enhancement tint is a moderate tint used to accentuate the actual color of the natural eye. These types of lenses are usually worn by individuals who have light eyes and want to deepen or make their eye color more drastic. They are generally not recommended for people with dark eyes.
Color tints are darker, opaque tints used to change the color of the natural eye. These contacts can be worn by anyone who is looking for a change. These color tints come in a variety of colors including, blue, brown, green, violet and gray.
Costume tints are used specifically for theatre of fun. They come in white, cat or tiger like eyes and many other fun derivations. So if you want to scare your friends with by turning into white-eyed monster, these lenses are your answer.
Colored lenses can come with or without prescription. But, they must be cared for the same as any other contact lenses. Proper care, cleaning and disinfecting must be done with colored and colorless contact lenses
