Choosing the Right Sunglasses

Sunglasses are necessary summer gear.

Whether you are spending time in the water, hiking in the mountains or hanging out at the pool, the sun shines 10 times stronger than the human eye can take.

When selecting sunglasses it is important to purchase ones that have been approved for UV-A and UV-B protection. Contrast intensive glasses are beneficial for activities outside because they filter out the blue light which makes colors more intense. They are especially useful in hazy light for playing ball games, skiing in poor conditions and any activities near the water.

Plastic lenses are recommended for sports because they are much less likely to break and are also much safer.

Contact lens wearers have to have good fitting sunglasses to prevent wind and dust from getting into the eye area.
