Eyeglasses Lenses: An Important Decision

Choosing the right lenses for your eyeglasses is one of your most important eyewear decisions. Your lenses will determine how well you see, how you look, how well your eyes are protected, and how comfortable your eyeglasses are to wear.

There are four factors to consider when choosing eyeglass lenses: lens material, power design, lens profile, and lens enhancements. Each factor will have an effect on the performance, appearance, and cost of your eyeglasses.

In most cases, your lenses will account for at least 50 percent of the total price of your eyeglasses. No single pair of eyeglasses is appropriate for all situations. Just as different activities call for different frame styles, they call for different lenses as well.
For social wear, you may want the thinnest, lightest lenses possible. For sports and active wear, consider polycarbonate lenses for added safety. And for daytime driving, boating, and other outdoor activities, ask your optician about polarized sun lenses to reduce glare.
To get the best performance, value, and style from your eyewear, we strongly recommend you purchase more than one pair of eyeglasses.
