Color Blindness: Definition and Treatement

Color blindness is the term commonly used to describe any of a number of color vision deficiencies. Most people who are color blind can see colors; they just have difficulty perceiving certain colors (usually green or red) or being able to distinguish one color from another.

There is no cure for color blindness. For this reason, children with a color vision deficiency and their parents should be counseled regarding limitations the condition may impose. For example, all colors may appear less vivid, making pastel shades particularly difficult to distinguish. Parents and teachers should understand that the colors green, yellow, orange, red, and brown may all look the same to a child with color blindness. And when a person with red color blindness starts driving, they should be made aware that red tail-lights and red traffic signals will be more difficult for them to recognize at a distance
